Waders in the River.

River Sweep as DTU does each year.  Saturday morning, April 26th, 7:00 a.m. at Johnson-Habitat Park.

Come on out with your waders and help clean-up in-stream through Johnson-Habitat Park starting at 7:00AM. We’ve always been the only group to actually make contact with the Denver South Platte during these sweeps. Then wade into the ground breaking ceremony for the River Vision Implementation Plan.

Break Ground -Saturday morning, April 26th, 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Habitat Park.

This momentous ground breaking ceremony will begin a $24.5 Million of  environmental, recreational and water quality improvements to the South Platte River corridor in Denver. It is the first such project however that has as a key focus “restoring aquatic and riparian habitat” thanks in large part to Denver Trout Unlimited.
This is the beginning of 14 months of work on 5 projects we helped get started that will enhance water quality and aquatic wildlife habitat. DTU’s objective is to restore aquatic and riparian habitat thus making the Denver South Platte river a recreational destination and a refuge for fish and wildlife.
Take a bow. There’s more work ahead but with River Vision Implementation Plan 2014-15 and the Carson Nature Center Project 2013 we have plenty to be proud of.
As Jeff Shoemaker , Executive Director of Greenway Foundation says, “NONE of this would be possible without the support of numerous financial stakeholders including the Gates Family Foundation, the Johnson Foundation, the Quick Foundation, and Denver Trout Unlimited.”
Be there in your waders. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

DTU member’s celebration lunch to pat each other on the back and drink some beer and whiskey following the Ground Breaking. (Cost shared via the DTU Miller Matrix.)

River Sweep w/Greenway and DTU

River Sweep is your chance to make a real change in the Denver South Platte

Organized by Greenway Foundation this effort involved hundreds of volunteers on a Saturday in the Spring and Fall to do a clean-up and restoration of the Denver South Platte.  Check out the next RiverSweep here.

Our TU chapter, joined by other fly fishers, slip into their waders to do the in stream work. What we find is always incredible and the event is always a great time for all.
