DTU Fights to Maintain Water Quality in the Urban Platte

On June 3rd there was a public hearing at The City of Littleton to determine if it would join The City of Englewood in its proposed application to change the water quality designation of the Platte River from Belleview downstream to I-70. Said change could have weakened water quality standards of the river.  The proposed change would have benefited the jointly operated Littleton-Englewood sewage treatment plant.  DTU joined with other conservation groups in opposing lower water quality standards for the river.

At that hearing The City of Littleton's council voted 5-2 not to enter into the process to change the river's designation. We all owe The City Council of Littleton a hearty round of applause for taking a leadership role in preserving the river and keeping the expectations for the urban South Platte high.

Even Hotter News - The Second Annual Pro-Am Carp Slam is set for September 27, 2008

Details will be forthcoming very soon.  Save the date and prepare to pair up with a Pro to show those Urban Carp What For!

Check It Out!
The results from the CTU Spring Rendezvous are in, and we think they got it right! This may be one of the best years in DTU's Programs Director, Tim Emery's life (See Newest DTU Member post below). He was acknowledged as one of six "Volunteers of the Year" a well deserved recognition. Also congratulations to all of you DTU Members, we were awarded the Most Improved Chapter designation.
